An Epic Finish For Few Are Chosen!
Feb 15, 2016
Few Are Chosen made it back into the winners stall after an exhilarating finish to the CL2 1015m at Grafton. Rounding the home turn Few Are Chosen and Jockey Daniel Griffin sat last, about nine lengths off the leaders, patiently waiting to straighten up before exploding down the outside showing an amazing turn of foot to claim the race in record time of 57.27seconds.
Few Are Chosen has enjoyed mixed success throughout his career. The son of Oratorio won two out of five trials in Sydney before he travelled north, and despite arriving with a swag of health issues managed to easily win his first start in a race and finished second his next two starts. After enjoying a nice spell the gelding was set for a first up start in Doomben only to suffer from a near race fall not long after the start of the race, going right down on his nose and reeling him back through the field, nearly losing his rider although still managing to pick himself up and fly home to only be beaten 3.3lengths...Nobody was hurt but the damage was done... the horse had lost all confidence and what was to become a long road to recovering the horses desire for racing had begun....
Patience from his owners, trial and error, some great runs and some that were not so good have all been part of his journey to date. His beautiful nature and personality have always made him one of the favourites among the staff and visitors to our stable and his win was one we are especially proud of.
