Tamino and Anton Make It A double For Val
May 15, 2015
Sydney owner and breeder Valerie Gordon had a particularly great day on the 15th of May at Ballina with both her runners Prince Tamino and Anton En Avant winning their races. After a lengthy spell Prince Tamino showed he was finally back to his self, bursting out of the gates and dominating the race from start to finish, easily holding off Miggeru and the fast finishing Few Are Chosen.
Anton En Avant was five weeks between runs and proved that was all he needed to freshen up enough to run the Richmond River 1600m. Having recently run over 2200m on three occasions in Brisbane, Anton was the class act in the field of 12. Ridden by Jockey Cassandra Schmidt, the pair sat confidently midfield and comfortably ran down smart galloper War Ends just before the post.
It was a lovely birthday gift for Valerie who turns turns 87 on Monday the 18th. Val is a big supporter of the stable and has a keen eye for a potential winning pedigree spending much of her time trawling through endless pages of sales catalogues to find her next winner. Val is also a keen breeder with a small band of carefully selected broodmares and has bred runners such as Voltaire Lumiere, Yo Ferdinand and Felixtrinidad. Her unbroken youngstock coming through are exciting future racing prospects by up and coming sires such as Loup De Vega and Uncle Mo.
