Les Remarquables Le Triomphateur

May 08, 2015

The delicate looking partnership of Les Remarquables and apprentice jockey Samantha Polo proved they were anything but when fighting their way out of the pack in the 1400m maiden at lismore to kick clear the final stages and win by 2.8 lengths. Polo had the mare balanced up and travelling beautifully third the fence, patiently waiting for the opening she needed to get the rails run to the post. As Polo had anticipated, the leaders before them rolled off the fence around the turn just enough for the pair to squeeze past and after a fair bit of pushing and shoving skipped away in the heavy going. The win was the first from 7 starts for the 5yo Monashee Mountain mare and was much to the delight of owners Glenn and Anne Walter who also bred Les Remarkables at their Gold Coast property.
