In A Race Of His Own

Dec 26, 2014

The Boxing Day races at Ballina saw the return of Voltaire Lumiere to the winners stall with the flashy chestnut bursting from the widest gate to sit just outside the Maryanne Brosnan trained Zarben in what was looking like a two horse race as the pair skipped away from the rest of the field. Upon straightening Jockey Chris Whiteley made his move, Voltaire pinned his ears and within seconds the duo had opened a gap of 2.5 lengths on the gallant Zarben and a further 3 on the rest of the pack. It was Voltaire's second win from four starts, winning his first start as a 2yo in similar fashion also at his home track.

Voltaire Lumiere is a half brother to in form stable runner Yo Ferdinand and also to retired Ballina Cup winner Felixtrinidad, and consistent performer King Of Spain.
