Sunday Double At Grafton

Nov 23, 2014

Hot on the heels of the previous days success, Grafton runners Cloud Consort and Ashjata were not to be out done by their stablemates with both horses winning their maidens in fine fashion. Cloud Consort, a magnificent 3yo colt by Magic Albert was able to put his mind on the job this time to easily win the 3yo maiden plate over 1100m by half a length in what was his fourth career start. Jockey Chris Maund was confident going in to the race that he would be the horse to beat. Maund had partnered the colt in both his trials as a 2yo and always felt the colt would be impressive and suggests we will see an even better horse over the 1200-1300m.

The following race produced another winner for the stable with 5yo Beautiful Crown mare Ashjata winning the Vintage Motor Club Maiden 1400m, beating favourite Carry To Gold by a length. Coming off a nice 5th at the Gold Coast, the lightly raced mare is improving with every run and still has a way to go before we see the best of her. Ashjata is the older sister to two time winner and stablemate Sybil Action, and is bred and raced by the Dowling family.
