First Rain Delivers At Grafton For Owners

Oct 14, 2014

The step down in class was all that was needed for classy filly First Rain to land her first win in the F&M Maiden HCP over 1106m at Grafton on 14th of May. Commencing her career as a 2yo, First Rain's previous four starts were in hotly contested 2yo races including The Landcaster Stakes and The Phoenix back in May 2014. She was put away in the paddock soon after, still a maiden but a very exciting prosect for the future. Stepping out at Grafton without a trial was no problem for First Rain, fighting off a fast finishing Cuban Song and collecting a $5000 Bobs Bonus along the way. Excited and proud owner Brad Turk made the trip down to Grafton to cheer his filly on and was always confident she would salute. Purchased by Mr Turk at the yearling sales and now raced with friends Greg Nash, Steve Jarrett and Stephen Lee the win was made all the more thrilling as it was to be a first win for both Turk and Jarrett as owners. Congratulations Gents, let's hope there's plenty more on the way!
