Yoyo Finds His Mojo

Nov 24, 2013

It was probably more feelings of relief than joy for the connections of Yo Ferdinand after he won the Lower Clarence Funerals CL2 1106m at Grafton on 24th of November. It was Yo's first attempt at a heavy track and it was a quality field but once in the straight his ears were back and there was no doubt that the race was his.

Yo entered the racing scene with a rockstar like quality. He had the looks, the attitude and ability to burn. He was scratched at the barriers due to bad manners from his first trial and from his first start, but fortunately knuckled down to end his first prep with a win and two seconds from four starts, not to mention winning a few fans along the way. His second prep saw him come out fighting in a hot field to finish second in a photo finish, only to go on to struggle to win a race for the entire prep. With all that hopefully behind him now, the Yo of earlier times seems to have rocked back on the scene and is showing his star quality once again. The win makes it his second from twelve starts.
